Well, not a whole lot has been going on in the McDermott house lately. We are just enjoying the fall colors and the crisp weather. We still haven't carved our pumpkins yet but are planning to do that this week sometime. Kade is with my mom as I type this. She wanted to take him for the weekend so it has been really quiet around here. Corinne is so easy... makes me wonder what was so hard about having one baby when Kade was a little one. :) Here are a few recent pictures of the kiddos. We are looking forward to Halloween next weekend. Kade wanted to be a spider again and Corinne is going to be in a peapod outfit. I am going to have to find a way to ration the candy with Kade. He has a slight sweet tooth just like mommy. haha.

Trip to the apple orchard

We tried out a new apple orchard this year on the advice of friends. It was very fun and Kade really enjoyed himself. He has already been asking when he can go again. Aside from having to drive to Greenfield for it, it was easy and cheap fun.

Well, most of you probably have heard that we have been having some serious bedtime issues with Kade since Corinne was born a couple of months ago. It has really thrown me for a loop since Kade has always went to bed easily and stayed there the entire night. I have decided that some of it is due to having a new baby sister and some of it is just his age. Anywho...We had to change some things up. Last week I made up a sticker chart and explained things to Kade. He gets a sticker for every night that he stays in his bed and in his room without coming out. After filling up a row on the chart he gets to pick a "prize" out of the cup. I wrote out special things that Kade likes to do on little slips of paper and folded them up. Then I put them into a cup for him to pick from. This morning was the big morning. He had successfully stayed in his room for 6 nights and filled up an entire row on his chart with stickers. He was really excited and picked his prize out of the cup. The slip of paper he choose said we could go get ICE CREAM. Exciting! So, we made a trip to get some ice cream later on in the day. I didn't have my camera when we went to get the icecream but here are some pictures of the chart and him holding his prize slip of paper. The other pic is of Corinne in her pretty sunday dress. (had to include one of her)

Hello! I feel like a total slacker for my lack of posts in recent months. Things in the McDermott household are slowly starting to get back to "normal". Actually we are getting into a new normal as we get used to being a family of four! Corinne is doing wonderfully. She was at the doctor last week and she is a little over 11 lbs. now. She is really getting some rolls and chubby cheeks that are so fun to pinch and kiss. She is a happy baby and pretty easy going. She reminds me a lot of Kade as a baby.

Kade is doing well also. He has taken to being a big brother and loves his little sister very much! If we can just get him to be a little more gentle we will be set. :) He is so proud of her and just wants to be close to her all the time...sometimes a little TOO close. He is still going to his preschool two days a week and loves it. He has a very nice teacher this year and couldn't be happier with "school".

We are so excited about the fall weather and the close of another season. Christmas will be here before we know it! I am not ready for that! I go back to work my two days in early October. I am nervous about being away from Corinne but I know she will be fine. Here are a few new pictures for you all.

We went fishing down at the pond in our neighborhood this evening. Kade and Rachel (our niece) really enjoyed themselves. Everyone caught some fish. I caught my first ever, I think. Kade had fun reeling them in and Rachel caught the most fish of anyone. It was really fun so enjoy some new pictures!

Hi all! Yes, we are still alive. I guess I just haven't been in the blogging zone lately. We have been enjoying the warm summer weather and anxiously counting down the weeks to the arrival of baby sister. Kade has been a real sweetie lately and we have been having lots of fun together on my days off. Everyone keeps asking me if Kade is ready for the baby. Well, it is hard to tell with a 3 year old but he seems very open to it and positive about it. We have her room pretty much ready...just need to start washing some of her sleepers, sheets, and other stuff like that. We still have some time though. I can't believe it is June already. I will try to be better about posting in the near future. :)

We have been doing some home improvement projects that I will try to get some pictures of and post on here. We had the wood on our house painted a couple of weeks ago and we LOVE it! The color to go with was a HUGE decision but it turned out so well! Scott and I are really happy with it. Last weekend Scott and his dad started a lighting project in our kitchen. We wanted to switch out he old 90's florescent lighting and have some recessed lighting put in. They got lots done in one day and we are planning to finish it up soon. I like it so much better already. They could leave it half finished and I would like it better than what was there before. I will put a finished product pic up when we are done.

Easter 2009

Kade had a very fun Easter weekend with egg hunts and time spent with family. He really "got it" this year and was excited about everything. We spent a lot of time trying to help him understand the true meaning of Easter as well. He understood a lot more of it than I thought he would.

The Easter bunny left Kade a tackle box at our house to go with the fishing pole he got for his B-day. He was so excited...can you tell by that big smile on his face?

Kade is three!

Our sweet boy turned three years old last week. I have been procrastinating about putting pictures up. He had a very fun CARS themed party and got lots of fun new toys. He had preschool on his actual birthday and they made him the above crown to wear for the day. He loved that! He also got to take treats in for his friends. Below is a picture of him with his new fishing pole. He really loves playing with it and can't wait to go fishing with daddy.

In other news, Kade had his 3-year well visit at Dr. Kidd's office today. He measured 50th for weight and 15th for height. I knew he was going to be a shorty. I guess he doesn't have much of a chance with Scott and I. The Dr. said he still expects Kade will be about 5ft 10in. or so but I am not holding my breath on that one :) He was very healthy overall. We are so thankful! I know there are families all over the place with children that are sick and hurting. I have purposed lately never to take for granted how healthy and alive our boy is. He is a blessing from the Lord and we feel so honored to be his parents. Thank you Lord for sharing him with us! We know he is yours!

Above is how I found Kade watching one of his cartoons yesterday. Doesn't he look like such a big boy laying like that?

The other day I found him playing in the dryer. He thought it was pretty funny. After getting out he decided it would be really fun to put all of his matchbox cars in there. We did learn that the light bulb in the dryer is hot and will burn your fingers....probably not the best place to play.

Last Friday Kade and I tried out a new place to play. It is a gymnastics place that has open play at different times throughout the week. We couldn't believe how much fun it was or how much there was to do there. It was a HUGE room just full of trampolines, a bouncy house, foam pit and lots more. We will definitely be becoming regulars there. It was very fun!

Kade got some fun Valentine's Day gifts from Daddy and Mommy that he would like to share with you. He really enjoyed his paints and new markers. (he is actually painting now as I type this). It has been one activity lately that he is content to do on his own for a good 15 min or so. :)

Kade in the snow...and other things

Kade had such a great time in the snow. We have a neighbor that has a steep driveway perfect for sledding. Kade wanted to go by himself over and over again. He didn't hesitate to lay down and make a snow angel.
Below is a picture that Kade wanted me to take. He collected some leaves on our walk yesterday and said that I had to take his picture with them. (they are laying down by his feet). The warmth in the air has been so nice the past couple of days. We LOVE it :)

I am a big fan of the TV show Jon and Kate plus 8. Well, Kate was at the fairgrounds last week so Scott and I made our way there to see her. We didn't wait in line for her autograph but took some pics of her signing for someone else. Scroll down for more news...

We had our ultrasound today and found we are having a GIRL. I don't have a scanner anymore so I can't post any pictures of her until she is here. She was pretty modest and didn't want us looking but we were relentless. She finally uncrossed her legs and took her hands away long enough to get a good look. Scott and I are so excited!! Kade doesn't know what to think yet.

Monday's are our grocery store day. Today Kade wanted to help me put things away. He tried so hard to put things were they belong and carry the heavy bags into the kitchen. It was so cute. Mommy's big helper.

Hello blog friends!
I went to the doctor today and we have a date for our next ultrasound! Hopefully the little one will cooperate and we will be able to see if it is a boy or a girl. The date is Febuary 9th. We also set a date for the planned C-section. We think it is going to be Friday July 3rd. The 4th of July has always been one of my favorite holidays so this should just add to that love I have for it. So, thank you for all of your prayers for us!

Big News! Most of you probably already know this but.....I'm pregnant (12 wks)! Our new little one should be here beginning of July sometime. I know this picture is blurry but I had to include it. This was Kade the entire time we were at the wedding reception. He LOVES to dance. He said, "Daddy, I want to dance!" He was the star of the show....next to the bride and groom of course. :)

Okay all...I'm way behind on blogging...I KNOW! Truthfully, I just couldn't get myself motivated lately to upload my pictures and post them. We had a busy December in the McDermott household. My brother got married down in Florida right before Christmas so we made a trip down there for the wedding. Kade was the ring bearer and did and excellent job. (If I do say so myself) Here are a couple of pictures of him in his wedding garb. Isn't he a stud muffin? The bottom half of the ensemble were a pair of khakis and bare feet. It was a beach wedding.

Here is a quick picture of my brother Brad- the groom. He's the one in the middle.

These two pictures are of the wedding site. The week we were there couldn't have been any more beautiful. It was sunny and at or near 80 degrees most every day. The actual wedding day was no exception. They couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day.

Daddy and Uncle James found a fun activity for Kade one evening. I will admit that I was slightly scared as he was bouncing up to the sky and then back down to the trampoline beneath him. Kade LOVED it! No surprise to those who know him well. He isn't scared easily. Basically he was held in with a harness that was attached to bungee cords. The harder he jumped on the trampoline the higher he went.

Well, we had our first big trip to the dentist today. I had been meaning to get him in there for a while now. Kade really liked it...I think it helped just a tad that mommy was the one cleaning his teeth. He got to watch Toy Story while I cleaned them and he also got a bag full of goodies when we left. The "goodies" included a new Blue's Clues toothbrush, 2 hot wheels stickers and a blue bouncy ball.

Hi all! Wow, we had a very fun weekend down at a cabin kinda close to Bloomington. Our friends, The Causey's, invited us down for a weekend away. Cam Causey's grandpa owns the cabin and was so gracious to let us come down and enjoy it. We packed some fun things in and lots of relaxing. The boys (Cameron and Scott) got to fish a couple of times and the kids enjoyed all the little dollar store surprises that "Miss Joanna" brought down. Note to self...the dollar store is an awesome place to find gifts for 2 year olds. Hope you enjoy the pictures. Can't believe that October is almost gone. Happy Halloween!

Rachel turns the big 4

It is so hard to believe that this little lady is four years old already. We remember waiting for her arrival in the hallway of St. Francis hospital like it was yesterday. We had a little family party last night at the Snow residence. Rachel racked in the presents...thanks to Gran Kade even walked away with some new fun things (you see him playing with one of them above-a new combine) . Funny how that works...haha. The picture at the top is of Kade singing "Happy Birthday". We are certain that he is a future American Idol contestant. Just kidding.

Kade had a big weekend up at the farm. My dad is right in the midst of harvesting so we decided to make a trip up. Kade LOVED riding in the combine. We had so much fun being with family. Hi all! Sorry we are taking so long between posts. It has been extraordinarily busy around here but not really anything that's blog worthy has been happening. The next couple of weekends are are going to be with family and I PROMISE to remember to take my camera.

Anywho...This is Kade's buddy Elliot who was born in June. Kade just loves this little guy. He definitely seems to be ready to fill the role of big brother someday. All he can say is, "Oh, baby Elliot...so cute" when he is around him. Kade asked to hold Elliot the other night and we got this cute picture. Elliot is actually wearing a pair of Kade's shorts from when he was a baby. I can't believe it has been so long since they were on my little guy.

Kade got these as a big surprise from Uncle Matt, Aunt Steph, and cousin Rachel last night. They recently returned from a family trip to Disney and got these as a gift for Kade. He LOVES them! Big fan of the movie CARS. He knows all of their names and has been playing with them non-stop since getting them last night.

Wild at the Zoo

We made a trip to the Zoo on Monday. It was really fun with Kade at this age. He seemed to enjoy it more than last year when we took him. He really loves animals so it was fun to show him all the different ones there. Above are some of our favorite animals. Kade wouldn't stop talking about the sea horses. Special Olympics

We have a sweet friend Meghan that participated in the Special Olympics this weekend. We had lots of fun watching her ride her horse and cheering her on. Kade was her biggest fan yelling, "Go Meghan!" It was just fun to be there to support her and the weather was beautiful! We couldn't have asked for a better morning. Thanks for inviting us Meghan!!

The two small pictures were taken at the Rib Fest last weekend. Sorry, I can't get them any bigger without causing them to become blurry. Kade and Elaina had fun goofing around together. At times they have a love/hate relationship. They really act like brother and sister more than friends sometimes. I'm sure it is because they have always been together so much.

...without these matchbox cars lately. Kade has been loving cars so Scott got his childhood car collection down from his mom's attic the other day to add to the fun. Kade can hardly leave them when we have to go somewhere. Today Scott made him a "garage" out of legos and Kade lined the cars up like this all by himself. Below is a picture that Kade took of me by himself. Whenever I get the camera out he thinks he has to take a picture too.

We have had a very fun long weekend together and there are more pictures to come. We went to the rib fest on Saturday with our friends. I will post soon with those pictures. Scott took most of the day off on Friday so we have had 4 whole days together. It is so good to be together.

P.S. I promise Kade doesn't wear that IU shirt everyday...it seems like every picture I post of him he is wearing it. :)

Our Anniversary

Well folks....We've officially made it four years. :) Yesterday marked our wedding anniversary. We went out last night and had dinner at Weber Grill downtown. Kade stayed with my mom all night so it was fun not having to worry about bedtimes and all of that. I even got to sleep in this morning without a little buddy to wake me up. I surprised Scott big time and got him a special watch. I was dying to give it to him all week and almost did on several occasions, but I'm really glad I just waited until last night. He loved it and I couldn't have been happier watching him open it. It has been an interesting year for us...we can't wait to see what else God has in store for our little family. Psalm 37: 23

We really had an awesome weekend. The weather couldn't have been any nicer and we just enjoyed it. Kade and Sophi (my mom's dog that we doggie-sat for over the weekend) loved riding bikes on the Monon Trail. Kade got a garage sale treat- his new guitar. When I saw it I immediately knew he would love it. The last picture is off Kade and Mollie. Mollie's mommy Katie is one of my best friends and we were pregnant together with the kids. It has been such a joy to share motherhood moments with her over the past 2 years. Obviously, Kade and Mollie are good buddies. Who knows what the future will hold for them. Kade has a couple of "girlfriends" at this point. :)

Kade was so excited to ride in his new bike cart last night. We had been looking to buy one of these for a while now and actually got to borrow this one from my boss. She was happy to get it out of her garage and we were happy to take it off of her hands for now. We can't wait to try it out on a longer family ride. Maybe we will make it up to the Monon Trail this weekend. As you can see above... Kade is a huge "helper" and took over the tire pump for Scott. Kade really enjoyed riding with Daddy. Maybe this will actually get Mommy to dust off her bike and use it.

Above is the funny sight before my eyes when I peaked into our spare bedroom yesterday. Sara (our-actually more like Scott's- beloved cat) got cozy in Kade's Elmo chair for her afternoon nap. Kade wasn't too thrilled when he saw here sitting there. He loves Sara but didn't want to share his chair. He has been extra sweet to her lately. He loves to kiss her and "pet" her. She looks a little tense when he is petting her but she tries to trust him. He doesn't notice that her ears are laid back and her eyes are squinted shut in agony.

Below is Kade's newest favorite toy. It is in good shape but is actually like 15 years old I think. It was given to us a few weeks ago and I finally got it out of the trunk. (things just seem to get lost in there). Anywho, Kade loves it!! He and Elaina had their first car date in it as you can see. Kade drove them. Both hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. Doesn't Elaina look beautiful in her dress? She had to go out and get a new outfit for the date. :) You know how that goes. You female readers can relate I'm sure.

Kade and I made a trip up to Bamaw and Papaw Furrer's farm last Friday. Kade just loves it up there to say the least. Within 15 min of arriving he had already fell into the pond and needed a change of clothes. He really loved the fishing. He kept saying, "I fish too. I have worm too." He even got to eat his bounty that evening during their small "fish fry". I didn't know this but...Kade likes to eat fish. It was a surprise to me.

Well, when it was time to leave for the day Kade was very sad and wanted to stay with his "Bamaw" (my mom). Mom loved his idea so Kade spent the night at the farm and mommy went on home to daddy. We then met the next evening and retrieved our son back. It was a fun evening for Scott and I and Kade couldn't have been happier. When I told him that I was going home then he said, "Okay mommy...bye bye mommy." When he thought I might be staying after all he said, "No, mommy...No, mommy". Kade likes to have Bamaw all to himself.

As I drove away and headed towards home without Kade, I reflected on the last two years. God is so good. There is really nothing else to add to that. Kade has been the best gift that we have ever been given. It sounds so cliche but he is just growing up right before my eyes. I feel like I need to blink and capture every moment with him. I am so blessed.

Sad News

Well, it has been a hard weekend in the McDermott household. On Saturday morning the signs of a miscarriage started. We had a doctor appointment today that confirmed our fears. It was thought that I was in my 11-12th week but the baby stopped developing some time ago. We are trying to remember that God is in control and has a plan for our family. Please pray that we get through this easily. I have a D & C scheduled for Wed. Sometimes things don't make sense or seem quite fair, but we are trusting that the big picture will be more clear than it looks right now. Thanks for your prayers and support!

We busted out the good stuff this weekend. This is actually an outfit of Scott's from when he was Kade's age. Scott's mom Jo kept it and gave it to us. Of course, Kade LOVED it!! He heard it was daddy's and didn't want to ever take it off. He did look cute and it fit perfectly. Jo said that a long time family friend, Linda Normington, got the outfit for Scott. So....Linda if you happen to read this....THANK YOU! We had fun with this. :)

Our Playdate

This is Teagan and his mommy Jessie. Teagan is almost exactly a year younger than Kade. You wouldn't be able to tell though by looking. Kade looks like a little shrimp next to the Teagster. We had such a fun time playing with Teagan in his basement. Kade loved his riding toys, basketball hoop, and special race car book. We practiced the never ending fun of sharing toys and learning how to be friends. :) Jessie and I had lots of fun catching up to. Sometimes playdates are as much for the mommies as they are for the babies. Kade managed to stay dry (his underware I mean) through the entire playdate and even broke in Teagan's new potty for him. YES! Victory for Mommy.

Daddy's Sweet Boy

Well, I was looking through some recent pictures tonight and found this one. This has to be my favorite picture of Scott and Kade. It was taken on our Florida/Disney trip back in April. I don't know too many little boys that love their daddy as much as Kade does his. If you look into his sweet eyes you can glimpse how much Scott means to him. He has always been a "daddy's boy". I tease Scott about this and act hurt at times, but truth be told nothing makes me happier. I feel so blessed that Kade has a dad that loves him so much and truly wants to spend time with him . They make memories together everyday that will help shape Kade into a great man someday. Scott is an awesome dad and I am so thankful for him.
We are planning on a playdate with Kade's friend Teagan tomorrow morning. I will post soon with pictures from that. Good Night.

Our Big Man

These are pictures of Kade's newly transformed "big boy bed". We took the railing off his crib. He is really doing well with it overall, and he hasn't fallen out so that is a plus. It is so hard to believe that he isn't a baby anymore. I always tell him that he is still mommy's baby though. It is so much easier to understand my parents love for me since I have known the love that I feel for my child. It is unlike any other feeling.

This is one of Kade's favorite activities. He loves to play "basketball game" as he calls it. He is loving sports which is making daddy happy.

Kade loves to ride his "bicycle". I use the term "ride" lightly because he can't reach the peddles yet so he just uses his feet on the ground to move around. He really enjoys being outside. The picture above is of our flowers that Kade really enjoys. The Lilly plant has since lost its flowers and is getting ready to bloom again. Kade always walks by the plant and says, "Oh no, where my flowers go....lost!". I keep assuring him that we will have flowers again as it is getting ready to bloom soon.

So, I mentioned below that we are trying to potty train. It is slow-going but we seem to be making progress. (just enough to keep this mommy trying) Kade's favorite place to go potty is out in the grass so it has been a perfect time of year to try this. The other day I brought his potty out in the garage so he could try to "go" once in a while during play breaks. When daddy returned from work that night he found this sight before his eyes. It was pretty funny. I guess the umbrella gives a guy a little privacy anyway. I will have to keep you updated on this process. I have a feeling we will be trying for quit a while. :o)

This is just a picture of him being a cutie. He is talking up a storm, potty training, and swimming like a fish with his Nemo arm floaties this summer. It is so fun to see the world through his eyes as he makes new discoveries. His newest thing is pointing out all the different types of trucks when we are driving on the interstate. He has a book that names them all so that has peaked his interest in the subject. Yesterday we watched a garbage truck pick up dumpsters of trash and dump them in the back. Kade thought this was so cool. The smallest things amuse him. It is fun for me to slow down and enjoy these things with him.

Well, I have finally decided to try this out. I really think it will be fun once I get going here. Hopefully people will enjoy keeping up on our lives and will get a few laughs from our everyday experiences. Life with a two year old can be pretty funny sometimes :) As soon as I finally find my cord for the camera that I need to download pictures, I will get some new pics of Kade uploaded. I have enlisted the help of daddy (AKA Scott) so hopefully we will find it soon. I think it grew legs and walked away a few weeks ago. So, it's bye for now. I will update soon.
